Senior Leaders Development Program
As preparation for taking on leadership roles in Year Seven,
the Year Six students who will potentially be taking on future leadership positions
will be enrolled in a leadership development program. Following a criteria format,
students will need to have in place evidence of a range of appropriate behaviours
and qualities, in order to be considered as candidates for leadership positions.
Year Seven students can continue to develop the leadership qualities and demonstrate
the behaviours throughout their Year Seven year, and be considered for leadership
positions throughout their final year.
Leadership Opportunities
In Term 4 of the previous year a School Captain and two Vice
Captains are elected by a collaborative process involving Years 6 and 7 students and the teaching staff. Student Councillors are elected early in each semester from and by
the students in Years Six and Seven. The office bearers are presented with badges
at a special ceremony on Assembly. The roles and responsibilities of our student
leaders are varied and include:
- Acting as ambassadors of Eagle Junction State School by presenting a model
of high standard in leadership, dress and behaviour to students, teachers,
parents and others in the school and wider community.
- Organizing fundraising events
- Liaison with classes in the lower school by presenting any ideas or concerns
to weekly Student Council meetings.
- Communicating all activities of the Student Council to the whole school
community.
- Attendance at Student Council meetings.
House Captains and Sports Leaders are
elected concurrently with the Student Councillors in Semesters 1 and 2. These students assist with
the organization and implementation of sporting activities throughout the school as well as the presentation of speeches
of introduction, motivation and acceptance.
